-
Plan on spending 2-3 hours assuming a couple of short
breaks along the way.
-
The LoDo Walking tour is approximately 2.25 miles in length.
-
There are several locations to stop at along the way to
shop, dine or simply to take a load off of your feet. You can spend a
couple of hours, or an entire day, if you choose to stop for meals and
to shop or further explore sites located along the route.
-
Although there are ample opportunities to purchase refreshments
along the way, you should bring these items with you for a more enjoyable
tour:
- Water
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen and lipbalm
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Money for shopping or dining
- Fannypack or clothing with extra pockets
- Map of the route (located on inside of CD case)
-
Don't forget fresh batteries for your CD player.
-
Don't be discouraged by Colorado's rapidly changing weather.
If a summer afternoon thunderstorm sneaks up, chances are it will be gone
before long, allowing you to continue the tour. However, it is wise to
be prepared, so consider tossing a rain jacket or emergency poncho in
your fannypack, pocket or purse just in case.
-
Pause the CD while crossing streets and listen for directions
to guide you from point to point.
-
We recommend that you walk the route during daylight hours.
If you choose to walk after dark, please note that certain points of reference
mentioned on the CD may not be visible. Also try to bring along a friend
if you'll be walking the route at night.
-
Hold onto children's hands, especially while in the vicinity
of the 16th Street Mall.
-
There is a free Mall Ride Bus that runs along 16th Street
from Wynkoop to Broadway. If you're parked elsewhere or staying at a hotel
several blocks away, this is a great way to get to the starting point
of the LoDo tour that begins at Union Station.
-
Parking meters in downtown Denver have a two- hour limit.
Be prepared to make a trek back to your vehicle to add more change to
the meter, as you likely will not finish in under two hours. Please refer
to the map insert to plan a convenient time during the tour to do so.
You may also wish to take advantage of the 16th Street Mall Bus for this
purpose. Track 4 and Track 8 offer opportunities to hop on the free Mall
Bus.

Finally, just have fun and play it safe!
